A born-and-raised Tanzanian mountain guide with 17 years of experience leading climbers safely to the roof of Africa. Certified Wilderness First Responder and fluent in English and German.
Tinkamanyire Gilbert has spent 17 years guiding climbers on Mount Kilimanjaro, leading expeditions across all five major routes — Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai, and Umbwe. Born in Tanzania and based in Moshi, he knows every trail, campsite, and weather pattern on the mountain.
His guiding philosophy is simple: "The mountain rewards patience, not pace." He leads every climb with a deliberate, slow rhythm that maximises acclimatisation and summit success while keeping every climber safe and comfortable.
As a certified Wilderness First Responder with High-Altitude & Mountain Rescue training, Gilbert runs daily health checks on every expedition and carries emergency oxygen and a full medical kit on every climb. Fluent in both English and German, he makes international climbers feel at home from the trailhead to the summit.
